Jan. 9th from 11:30 pm – 1:00 pm
Douglas Ray will discuss the rise and fall of community newspapers and consider the path forward for the Fourth Estate. His career tracked the corporate consolidation of print journalism, saw its salad days and secured a Pulitzer Prize for breaking news coverage, but also the great unwinding. Now leading a communications team at the University of Florida, Ray remains cautiously optimistic for community journalism as new models emerge.
This year our meetings will resume being in person (with lunch). Our forums are now held at the Aloft Hotel, 3743 Hull Road (behind the Hilton UF Conference Center). Please aim to arrive at 11:30 for lunch. The talk itself is scheduled to begin at noon.
Please register by MONDAY, Jan 2nd.
